Dan Handley, Ph.D. - Producer-Writer-Director Dan Handley is a scientist, writer, and filmmaker. He has studied playwriting and science journalism at Johns Hopkins University as well as documentary filmmaking at Pittsburgh Filmmakers. His technical education include Johns Hopkins University, Biophysics, B.A., Carnegie Mellon University, Logic and Computation, M.S., and University of Pittsburgh, Human Genetics, Ph.D.
David Conrad - Narrator Juilliard-trained David Conrad is an accomplished film and television actor ( Wedding Crashers, Men of Honor, Boston Public, The Good Wife, CSI Miami ). David is widely known for his co-starring role as Jim Clancy/Sam Lucas along with Jennifer Love Hewitt on the long running hit CBS series The Ghost Whisperer.
William Peduto - Executive Producer Bill Peduto is the Pittsburgh City Councilman for District 8 and serves as the Chairman for the Committee on Finance and Law. Councilman Peduto created the city's first Committee on the Arts and was recognized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as one of the 50 Cultural Forces of the region. As a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Mr. Peduto works with organizations and individual artists to promote arts and culture as a way of increasing economic growth in the region.
Mark Knobil - Director of Photography Mark Knobil has been a professional cinematographer for over 20 years. He has over two dozen credits as Director of Photography for National Geographic, PBS Nova , and the Discovery Channel. Two of his projects have been nominated for Emmy awards.
Jeff Garton - Director of Photography Jeff Garton has shot three features, a dozen short films, and hundreds of commercials and documentary projects. He has traveled extensively for National Geographic, Nova , and the Discovery Channel. Jeff also teaches film production and lighting classes and workshops.
Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson Neil deGrasse Tyson is an astrophysicist at the American Museum of Natural History and Director of the Hayden Planetarium. Nancy Robinson - Interviewee Ms. Robinson is a former operations manager of the Allegheny Observatory and also directed its historical tour activities for many years.
Dr. George Gatewood - Interviewee Dr. Gatewood is Professor Emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh and former director of the Allegheny Observatory. He specializes in astronomy, astronomical instrumentation, statistical methods, stellar astrophysics, astrometric properties of nearby stars and the observational discovery and the study of planetary systems.
Art Glaser - Interviewee Mr. Glaser is an author, educator, and historian affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh and the Senator John Heinz History center and a foremost authority on the history of the Allegheny Observatory.
